Expression of Interest for Secretary to iBRA-NET Executive Group
iBRA-NET is a multidisciplinary group of breast and plastic surgeons committed to the concept of ‘No innovation without evaluation.’ The group supports the design and delivery of early phase (IDEAL 1-2b) surgical studies to promote safe and transparent innovation. The iBRA-NET portfolio currently includes the iBRA-NET localisation studies; implant-based breast reconstruction studies (MAP-BRA, Pre-BRA and Best-BRA); an oncoplastic breast conserving surgery study (ANTHEM) and a study evaluating the management of loco-regional recurrence (MARECA). The Innovation Group led by Ed St John works closely with industry to support the earliest studies that then progress through the iBRA-NET research pipeline.
The ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic and committed to the concept of ‘No innovation without evaluation’. They will ideally have experience of surgical research or a desire to learn. The role is open to both consultants and senior trainees wishing to develop an interest in the introduction and evaluation of new surgical techniques and devices.
The secretary will support the chair; promote new and ongoing iBRA-NET studies and the network; support the development of new studies and contribute to the organisation of iBRA-NET events including the annual research meeting.
The iBRA-NET Executive Group meets 3-4 times per year with one meeting combined with the annual Research meeting. There is an expectation that most work will be carried out by e-mail in between formal meetings and the post holder will be expected to commit to actively contributing between designated meetings to fulfil the secretary role. The post will be for a 3 year term, renewable for 3 years.
