Breast Reconstruction
Breast conserving surgery has been increasing over the last few decades. Techniques are emerging that aim to improve cosmesis by making the excision smaller, more precise or by avoiding excision at all.
The hope of the future must be in tissue engineering where a whole breast could one day be created from a patients own cells. Already, companies exist that have commercialised nipple engineering for use in nipple reconstruction.
As per Breast Conserving Surgery, increasing camera technology coupled with computer assisted algorithms can help to predict outcomes and objectively assess breast cosmesis following breast reconstruction.
